Photo requirements
Where a photo is required, it must be a recent, clear, passport-style image. A poor photo is a common cause of rejection.
What makes an accepted photo?
A recent colour photo, taken against a plain light background, with your full face visible, neutral expression, eyes open, and no shadows or glare.
Can I use a phone photo?
Yes, if it meets the requirements: good lighting, head and shoulders centred, no filters, and high resolution. Avoid selfies taken too close.
Can I wear glasses or head coverings?
Glasses should be removed to avoid glare. Head coverings are accepted only for religious reasons and must not obscure your face.
What file format do you need?
A JPEG or PNG under the size limit shown in the upload step. We'll tell you if the image needs to be retaken.
